Hockney Style Joiners

Final photomontage
(Kyla Bautista, Shaday Thomas, and Denae Sacramed)
Hey guys, so in GT we are doing photomontages as our first project for 2016. Im guessing this project is inspired from David Hockney's photomontages.  The way were doing it is different from David Hockney's photomontages and I'm gonna tell you why. Well one is that he is more well known for his photomontages than I am. Also he has more experience than me with photomontages. Another thing that is different from the photomontages than mine is that his one has been seen worldwide.

With photos their are always meanings or a message to them. Some photos can send a positive or a negative message. For me, I think messages that has sorta of a negative message is when people post stuff about their "amazing" life because its like your bragging that how rich they are. This might not seem to be a negative message like others but for me its somewhat like a negative message. With a positive message on their photos its how they effect people or whats the picture based on.

School photomontage
(Kyla Bautista)
For the photomontage project we made 3 different ones. We did a practice one, school one where you would do one of your partner, and finally we did a final one where you would take 25 pictures of something meaningful in your life. So for the school I did Kyla and well she doesn't really look like this in real life. But I did sorta forgot a neck and shoulder so thats why she looks like that. Then my final is the on the very top with Kyla, Shaday, and Denae. This is something meaningful in my life because with my friends I feel like I'm myself. When I'm not with my friends I feel like I can't really be myself. Also because my friends are like something that I don't ever want to  let of. I believe that my final has a positive message because I think friendship is a positive thing. Just like in my last years visual poem, "some friends go but true friends stay," that I know that my friends will stay and not leave.

2016 Aspirations

Happy New Year to everyone. So new year and that means new goals for 2016, and I'm gonna be telling you guys what my different goals for 2016. I didn't really make that goals for 2016 like maybe 2-3 but that's it. My first goal is my most important one and its to be more proactive than procrastinating. I did a blog post about proactive and procrastination and from that I explained that I'm a procrastinator and I want to be more proactive this year. My second goal is too improve my grades for each quarter. I seem to be doing that last year for 1st and 2nd quarter but now I don't feel as if I can maintain my straight A's. Like for example in mid quarter for 1st quarter I got one B and that B was close to a C, and for 1st quarter the actual quarter I got straight A's. That means I improved that one B and I want to keep doing that for the rest of the new year. My third goal is to be more helpful to people because when I see someone who needs help I usually just leave them instead of actually helping which is bad. So I just wanna help more people when they need help instead of just living them helpless. These are all my goals/aspirations for 2016.

In my first paragraph I said that my most important goal is to be more proactive than procrastinate which is true but something that is also important is being is better sister to my younger brother. I'm not the best sister but I'm sorta getting there. Its my mission to be the best sister by the end of 2016. So lets go back to my other important goal which is to be more proactive than procrastinate. Most people know me to be a person to not do all their work on time and always seem to find a way to not do it. I really want to break out of that habit because its not very useful in school and at home. The reason I want to break out of this habit is because every time I tell myself to do something I ended up doing it for like a day and them completely forgetting about it the next day.

Since school started in January I've been doing pretty well on getting things turned in on time and getting pictures taken for our GT homework. I've been doing good this past week in school which I'm very proud of myself. They was I manage to be more proactive on school days is by reminding myself when I get out bus that I have homework to do. So when I get home from school I just have to do my homework so I know that I did it and won't forget about it. I have a pretty good schedule planned out and I forget to say early but planning things out is something very helpful for an unorganized person which is me. Also by being a better sister I'm gonna try to not be so mean and controlling and be more nice and caring. These are my goals and my way of ensuring that I will follow and continue my goals for 2016.

Scratch Game Design

Hello everybody, I hope everyone is having a good Friday. Lets talk about what were are doing in Gt because it seems like a while since we started a new blogpost. We are currently doing coding and we already have 2 games already made which you guys can play. Im not quite finish with my chase game and I do have a couple bugs in my platform game but I am working on them. So for my chase game you use your arrow keys to move around and you have to try to avoid the ghost to earn points. With my platformer game you use the arrow key(up) to jump into the platforms. Yours trying to make the sprite get to the purple ball to move to the next level.

User experience influenced my chase game and also my platform game. Like for example, in my chase game, my sprite has different faces every time you choose a different arrow key. I reason why I wanted that in my chase game is because I thought it was cool how it looks in Mr. Sanderl's chase game and thought it would look good on my chase game. In my platformer game I saw that most people in my class had there platform move vertically instead of horizontally so I decided to do that because it seemed pretty easy and Im all about easy/simple stuff. I know I should be doing some more difficult coding but I just don't feel that comfortable doing pretty complex coding like the sixth graders, so I just stick with the easy stuff. However on my Operation Freedom game I do want to go past my comfort zone and try something more different and complex coding.

For my chase game I really like my sprites and how the sprite moves pretty smoothly. On my platformer game I like the background of the levels. So when you reach the purple ball, the background will change from a blue and white to a red and pink background. On both of my games the background is pretty simple and both games have moving sprites. But, unlike my platformer game the chase game only has one level. Another difference between those two different games is that in my platformer game you can jump and in my chase you can't.

My best code that I made was probably in my chase game. The code is making my Sprite move across the screen without rotating when you press a different arrow keys. I'm really proud of that code because when starting to make the chase game I absolutely was clueless. I didn't know where to start so when I made my Sprite walk I pretty proud of myself for completing that. I overcame my biggest difficult bugs by asking a sixth grader because they seem to know more than me. I also overcame it by asking my friend how to fix it. But what mostly help the most was the hamburger style critique we did in our GT class. Those help because I can see what I could improve on and tips or links that could easily help me. Coding is not really my favorite thing to do but it did make me think a lot, more thinking than I do in other classes and I believe I  liked that the most. I liked that with coding you have to think and once all that thinking is over and seeing what you have completed with it, it make me feel proud of what I just did.

Invention Commercial

Hello everybody, I'm gonna be explaining you about our new project so I hope you guys enjoy. So in GT, we have this new project about an invention commercial. We have the same teammates from the scavenger hunt, but if you don't know them yet they are Ashton, Ashley, and Denae. For this project, my team's main goal was to get everything finish on time. The reason I say this is because we got approve couple days later then the actual due date approval. Also considering that some of us were really busy so we couldn't really film that much. But overall we get everything done and finished on time.

While filming we had a lot of "team moments" but some weren't the best. Okay so one of the best "team moment" was when the second day we were filming and Ashton wore a different color shirt than usual. So we had to find something that maybe he could wear that would look similar to the clips we already had. But considering that we were a team of 3 girls and only 1 boy it was pretty hard to find something for Ashton to wear. Then we found this big puffy white jacket that was perfect for Ashton. Ashton called it "the man jacket". The best part was when he actually didn't haft to wear it because we actually re filmed the whole thing. Let me tell you that we laughed pretty hard because of this "team moment". That is just one of the "team moments" we had.

During our editing we had a lot of fun. Our team laughed a lot while editing which did sorta distract us from actually finish but we eventually did. Most of the editing was from me and Ashley. But Ashton and Denae did help out with finishing touches. We had a rotation where Ashley would edit first then me, third Denae, and finally Ashton. Since Ashton is new too editing we helped him and by we I mean mostly Ashley and Denae. The reason I didn't help him because Ashley and Denae were already telling him the things I would have told him. Overall I really like working with Ashton, Denae, and Ashley because we were so comfortable with each other and had a blast while filming!

Composition Scavenger Hunt

P3T4_Composition_2015 from Kapaa Middle School MEDIA on Vimeo.

Hey guys, so in GT we are learning some composition techniques and Im gonna be telling you which one I believe is the most important. Out of these 20 composition techniques I can't really chose which one is most important because there are more than one important one. But if I had to choose I believe rule of thirds (subject) is the most important one. The reason why is because it makes your video more balanced since it shows equal parts of ground, sky and your subject. Another reason why I believe this is the most important one because it also make your video more clean and simple (my opinion).

So just like my last paragraph I explain which one I think is most important, in this paragraph I'm gonna explain which one is the most difficult. For composition techniques, I do believe that is there is more of them that seem pretty difficult so I'm just gonna explain only one. I think repetition of shapes because there's not a lot of things that repeat around me. I can use repetition of shapes more often by trying to take some items that look the same and putting them together. Another way I wan use it more often is when I see something that is repetition of shapes, I could shoot something with it.

So in the video there are 4 people who are my teammates. We have 3 seventh grade girls including me and 1 sixth grade boy. My teammates are AshtonDenae, and Ashley and we are the only team of four considering we have such a big class. Ashton is a sixth grade boy that got stuck with 3 seventh grade girls for a project. He has blonde hair, 2 older brothers and 1 younger sister. Not forgetting to mention but he has these amazing blue eyes that I always seem to compliment him on. I figured that me, Ashley, and Denae are all jealous of his eyes but what can I say he has really great eyes. My other teammate is Denae but I do like to call her Lucy sometimes because that's what her family calls her and I like that name on her. Denae and I have something in common and it is that we have names that can be pronounce wrong. Denae has faded red hair at the ends and also wears glasses that are the color black and purple. Finally, my last teammate Ashley. She has these big brown very pretty eyes and also has blonde hair just like Ashton but darker. Just like how me and Denae have something in common, me and Ashley also have somthing in common. We both have the same middle name which is Marie. Ashley does gymnastics and that makes her very busy but that's Ashley for you.

I already introduced you to my teammates but I'll be explaining what they contributed on the video. Considering me and Ashley did a lot of the filming but Denae and Ashton did do most of the editing. Ashley did the voice overs at last minute but we still manage to finish somewhat on time. Like I said Ashton and Denae did do the editing but Ashley did do a lot of it because she's just the type of person to take charge. Ashton did the transitions and was in the video most of the time. Denae was also in the video and she added the clips in the right order. Ashley edited the clips and put in the our audio. Then it was me and I was the one who got to add in our text layovers and also be in the video. Together we all choose the music and imported together which did take part of our lunch time. This a the first group project of the year and I really like the group I had even though I wasn't there when choosing groups.

Cracking the Code

Hey guys, so recently in our GT class we are learning about code. I believe that everybody should do code because coding makes you think. Like you don't even haft to be a genius to learn it. Even if you don't want to learn about coding then everyone should just learn how to do the basic stuff. But in my opinion I do believe that everyone should learn it but if you don't want to do then you shouldn't feel like you haft to do it.

My first experience with working with code is when I was about 11 years old. I remember my cousin asking me if I want to try something new and I agreed. So when I first started doing coding I did the flappy bird one and I did pretty good. But with me I got stuck on some because I didn't really read the directions. I'm the type of person who get very impatient, like when I finish a level I don't want read something because I just wanna keep going without getting stopped.

My first experience with working with code in our GT class I got stuck on a lot of them. Like I said in my last paragraph I don't really like reading directions. So I was on level 5 when I got stuck and I was just very confused why I got stuck. I remember reading the directions and then I realize that I'm doing it correctly its just that I didn't know my left and right. At first I thought it was my left and right so that's what I kept doing until I realize that its the birds left and right. But basically I couldn't get that though my head because I kept thinking it was my left and right. In the end I had fun and I really enjoyed it.

If I could design any program, game, or app, I would make an app that could help you reach your goal in a short period of time (not sure if there is even an app like this already). I would call this app the IAchieve. So this first thing that would happen when you open up this app there will be this profile set up thing to know what goals you want to achieve and when do you want to reach this goal. Then after you would like get a list of recommendations on where to start and some tips. It also gives you reminders to do this and that today plus it will give you a daily video to inspire you to keep going. This app can be very helpful for people who like want to start a business and you have no clue where to start then you could use this app. This is also a good app for people who would want to lose wight faster, grow their hair faster, train for a marathon, or maybe help people save up money for like a vacation they want to go to. The IAchieve could also help out student get good grades or improve on school. It could have a daily reminders to tell them to check if their is homework and will give you tips they could do to help them study and be organized. The IAchieve is perfect for everyone who wants to achieve a goal. Even if its a small or big goal it help you get reach in the time you want to achieve it in.

My Humorous Monologue

Hey guys, as we continue the comedic monologue project I'm going to tell you what I learned so far. Most of the things we learned so far are things I already knew but it was good to refresh my mind with things I might have forgotten over the summer. But something I learned that I totally forgot about is padding and I will tell you guys more about it in the next paragraph. One thing that was good to refresh my mind with is the cameras. I remember I was so happy to use them but then totally forgot what some of the buttons were used for. Yikes, but as we learned more about them I became more familiar with them like I used to be. For me I think its good that I refresh my mind with thing I forgot over the summer but hopefully I learn new things as we progress into the project.

Like I said in my other paragraph, I will talk more about padding. For me I think padding is the number of seconds you wait until you start talking. I believe padding is crucial because I for sure don't want anything I said to be left out. When you press the record button, the camera takes about 5 seconds for it to start actually recording it. That's what I think but I could be wrong. Last year I remember that the ends of my visual poem audio got cut off and I had to film a new voice over again. That's why I believe that padding is very important.

So in this paragraph I'm gonna tell you about my weakness, strength, and what I could have improved on. So my weakness in this project is getting my b-roll. So for me when I thought I had exactly all my b-roll I actually didn't. So basically for me when I was trying to put in my b-roll to match my audio I realized that I didn't have the specific one for that line. But overall I think that I covered it up pretty good. Also another weakness is my acting. Every time the camera was on me I ended up laughing and it took forever to film. Also it was getting darker by the minute so I had to work fast and cooperate with the person filming me.

For me I believe that my strength were editing and putting it all together. Like I said in my last paragraph I didn't have all the b-roll for my humorous monologue so I had to work with what I had. The reason I believe that editing was my strength because I already knew how to work with imovie and that I manage to cover up the b-roll I didn't get. Overall I finished on time and no one knew about my b-roll being missing. If I could go back in time and fix what I could improve on it would be getting b-roll clips. The reason I said that because I used some clips twice and also because I know I could've done better.

So as you can see in the picture, they are my results on my humorous monologue. On Tuesday we watched everyone ones video and graded each other by our rubric. As you can see 16 people gave me a 4 and 16 people gave me a 3. I think this was a reasonable grade because I knew I could've done better. I'm pretty happy with my results because I really do agree with them. Fun fact, this is actually the first time I agree with the results. In the end of this project I learned something and that is always check if you have everything. When I say everything I mean everything.
